The new Emergency Services Complex for the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) relocates and consolidates administration staff and operations from DFES’ existing CBD and Belmont facilities.
The 24 hour operations complex houses office accommodation, emeregency call register, state and regional operations centres and parking in support of operational needs. GHD Woodhead provided full architectural and interior design services for this project which was completed in September 2012.
The 7500 sqm, three-storey building’s H-shaped configuration comprises two wings of office space located either side of a central services and circulation core. Undercroft parking has been incorporated on the southern side of the building tucked into the Beeliar Drive embankment.
The building design is environmentally conscious and, through a combination of smart systems and strong passive design principles, has achieved the equivalent of a 4.5 Star NABERS energy rating.
